Pascal Movement for Sustainability:

Communicating Climate Change through Art and Science by Project Pascal

Expressing Our Gratitude to Zaria Forman

Zaria Forman’s dedication to conveying the urgency of climate change through art is both powerful and thought-provoking. Her artistic approach, one that stitches beauty with urgency, touches the hearts and minds of countless individuals across the globe. Her work speaks volumes about the power of art to evoke emotions and drive meaningful change. Today, we want to express our deep gratitude to Zaria Forman for her dedication to the cause and introduce the Pascal Movement, a collective endeavor fueled by her remarkable influence.

Zaria Forman: An Artistic Force for Climate Awareness

Zaria Forman’s canvases, vast and intricate, depict remote and fragile landscapes profoundly impacted by the ominous forces of climate change. But it is not the devastation that she focuses on; rather, it’s the intrinsic beauty of these locales that she brings to life. Her artwork is a powerful reminder that amidst the crisis, our planet’s breathtaking beauty endures, and we stand to lose so much should we not protect these.

An ardent visionary, she collaborated with NASA’s Operation IceBridge during which she ventured on airborne missions to document ice changes in Antarctica and the Arctic. These missions uncovered the alarming pace at which polar ice was vanishing, and the data collected highlighted the consequences of climate change, from rising sea levels to the instability of ice sheets.

Zaria Forman’s art serves as an emotionally resonant instrument for disseminating awareness about climate change. It inspires viewers to not only appreciate the magnificence of our planet’s imperiled landscapes but also encourage us to take action to conserve it. Through her art, she reminds us that it is still possible to make a positive impact and safeguard the environment that sustains us.

The Pascal Movement for Sustainability

Her dedication has deeply moved us. We, the Pascal Movement, embark on a mission to cultivate a more sustainable and resilient future, particularly for students in the Asia-Pacific region who are grappling with the impacts of climate change. Our movement represents a concerted effort to amplify the voices of Asia-Pacific’s youth, empowering them to actively engage in climate activism and express their messages through artistic means.

Based on the theme of climate change and sustainability, the art collaboration is a unique attempt to gather the concerns of the young people of the Asia Pacific and how they would like to reimagine the future they would like for our planet. An inspiring collection of art in a number of forms will join this virtual exhibition.

A Collective Effort for a Sustainable Future

Zhang Chenxi, the Chief Editor of the Pascal Movement, stands out as one such champion of environmental and social justice. Through her work, she is making a profound impact on the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, echoing the urgent need for collective action to combat climate change. Chenxi has harnessed her skills and passion to channel the concerns and visions of young people who are deeply committed to addressing the climate crisis.

Recently, she submitted a piece to Harbinger’s Magazine, a literary publication, with the hope that her words will have a profound impact. She won first place in an international competition, resonating with many people around the world and gaining sympathy.

Chenxi’s dedication extends beyond writing; she is also actively involved in developing diverse programs to foster creativity and communication among Asia-Pacific students. These programs not only empower young students to express their concerns and ideas through various art forms but also equip them with the tools to inspire change. Chenxi’s role in nurturing and guiding the youth of the Asia-Pacific region is pivotal in shaping a more sustainable and resilient future.

Chen Guo, our Project Pascal’s Art Director, has created a digital art poster symbolizing solidarity among individuals and international organizations committed to sustainability. This poster extends an invitation to every individual to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with others in the global quest to combat climate change. It is within this collective unity that the potency of our message resides.

A Determined Will to Express Our Feelings

Our aspiration is to evoke sentiments of injustice and righteousness through artistic expression. We genuinely believe that our work possesses the potential to serve as a compelling catalyst for action. As we persist in our mission, we hope that the Pascal Movement will perpetually serve as a wellspring of inspiration and motivation for our fellow students.

We aim to use art to stir emotions, awaken a sense of injustice, or kindle a spirit of righteousness, thus uniting students with us on this noble mission. Together, through the channels of creativity and shared responsibility, we can exert a profound and enduring influence on the future of our planet.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Zaria Forman for her incredible contributions to the cause of climate awareness through art. Her influence has ignited a fire within us, and with the Pascal Movement, we are determined to carry forward her legacy and inspire change in a global movement. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against climate change.
